For this Inktober, I decided to match a selected group of prompt words from the official list to a scene from an original story of mine: Complex City. A science fiction novel in which the individuals are merely disposable instruments of groups of power and institutions, but will somebody rebel?
Thumbnail Sketch
The exploration was done almost at once. I did not know exactly what the background would be; I just wanted it to be an abandoned place where these STAR officials thought they would get hold of the rebels’ treasure, their relic. Not everything ended up as intended, though.
Middle Sketch
During the validation process on the middle sketch, I realized that, considering the nature of the relic, the best place would be a bridge- the bottom of an abandoned bridge.
Final Sketch
This is one of the cases where the middle sketch reached almost the point of becoming the final artwork. I just needed to adjust the shadows behind the bridge pillars and add more detail to the soldiers in the foreground.
