Inktober 2024 – “SUN”

Tonatiuh, the ancient Aztecs’ representation of the Sun god, makes his way through the forces of the night.

This is one that took me longer and more iterations to complete. This was the initial thumbnail sketch (I also made the character design, for the armor in particular)

But, when I scaled it up to work on it, I felt it lacked the strength I was aiming at.

So, I decided to explore back on a different thumbnail sketch. Here’s the one I ended up picking. I knew from the beginning that it was a bit more ambitious.

So, I scaled it up and worked on it, until I got this:

Here’s the final pencil sketch, I ended up adding a full black background to highlight the main character though.
